GEORGE JACKSON, Winterset

George Jackson, 85, of Winterset, died of a heart ailment Jan. 15, 1996 at the Community Care of Winterset. Funeral services will be Jan. 19, at the First United Methodist Church in Winterset. The Rev. Don Frank will officiate the services and burial will be at the Winterset Cemetery.

He was born in Madison County on Jan. 6, 1911 to William Frederick and Edith Pearl (Fleener) Jackson. He married Ruth Gamble on March 27, 1933 in Omaha, Neb. He was a retired plumber and a lifetime resident of Madison County. He had been a livestock truck driver; had operated a service station; and was a farmer for several years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Winterset.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, and four brothers.

Surviving relatives include four sons, William Jackson and wife Judy of Davenport, Fla., Larry Jackson and wife Twyla of Winterset, Richard Jackson and wife Karen of Sun Lakes, Ariz., and Philip Jackson and wife Terry of Lenexa, Kan.; one sister, Eleanor Poland of Winterset; 8 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
