Eugene C. Vierling Sr., Winterset

Eugene Charles Vierling Sr., 84, of Winterset died of cardiac arrest Sept. 20, 2001, at Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset.

Funeral services were held Monday, Sept. 24, at the First Christian Church in Winterset with Dr. Bobby G. Dickerson officiating. Burial was at Winterset Cemetery.

Eugene Vierling was born Jan. 17, 1917, in Madison County to Ernest T. and Maude (Campbell) Vierling. He was a 1936 graduate of Winterset High School. On Oct. 18, 1959, he married Naomi Namur Blake in Winterset. A lifetime resident of Winterset, Eugene had been an insurance salesman in his hometown for 35 years, retiring in 1985. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Winterset.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and a brother.

He is survived by a son, Chuck Vierling (wife Kathie) of Polk City; a daughter, Donna McDonald (husband Richard) of Winterset; two brothers, Jack Vierling of Winterset and Clarence Vierling of Oklahoma City, Okla.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the First Christian Church in Winterset or the Red Cross Disaster Fund.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Collins Oak Park Chapel in Winterset.
