Fern Lake Hartsook
Fern Lake Hartsook, daughter of James W. and Hester Lake Hartsook, passed away on May 14, 1970, at the age of 66 years, 11 months and 28 days, at the Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa.
Fern was affiliated with the Penn Avenue Church. She graduated from Greenfield High School and Coe College.
She dedicated her life to the teaching profession. After teaching in many high schools, Fern became a registrar at a private girls' school in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Then she was business manager and later assistant to the dean in a girls' school in Evanston, Illinois. From 1961 - 1969 Fern was office assistant at the Employment Agency at the University of Iowa.
Fern is survived by two brothers, Ralph S., of Afton; William Lloyd of Corydon; four nieces, Emma Frye of Lakewood, Colorado; Mary Lambert of Corydon; Mrs. Max (Phyllis) Parrott, Santa Rosa, California; Mrs. William (Elma) Early, Creston; and five nephews, Roland of San Antonio, Texas; Lyle of Nevinville, Iowa; Merwyn of Whittier, California; Wayne of Diagonal and Dean of Afton.
