Lorraine Porter

INWOOD, Iowa--Lorraine Porter, 70, of Inwood, died Wednesday, Jan. 12, 1994, at her winter home in Green Valley, Ariz.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Inwood, with the Rev. Doug Achterhof officiating. Burial will be in Richland Cemetery, Inwood. Visitation will be Sunday with family present 2-4 p.m. at the Porter Funeral Home, Inwood.

Mrs. Porter was born July 30, 1923, near Inwood, daughter of Otto and Margaret (Tuynman) Coyer. She graduated from Inwood High School in 1939, and married Stanley Porter Sept. 4, 1942, at Orlando, Fla. They farmed near Inwood. Mr. Porter died Feb. 23, 1990. Mrs. Porter moved to Inwood and had wintered at Green Valley for the past few years. For many years, she wrote the "Porterhouse Stakes" column in the West Lyon Herald.

She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church and the church organizations, the Pierians Club, PEO, and the Inwood Coffee Grounds Club. She was an avid birdwatcher.

Survivors include three daughters and their husbands, Nancy and Thomas Myers of Bellevue, Wash., Margo and Gary Breitag of Bemidji, Minn., and Emily and Dean Dalzell of Highlands Ranch, Colo.; a brother, Ernest Coyer of Cherokee, Iowa; a sister, Mrs. Harold (Florence) DeVaul of Inwood; a brother-in-law, Arnold Gilbertson of Canton, S.D.; eight grandchildren, Mike, Cari, and Molly Myers, Leslie and Peter Simons, Scott Breitag and Matt and Sarah Dalzell, and a great-granddaughter, Clare Myers.

She was also preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Arnold (Mildred) Gilbertson.

OBITUARY--LORRAINE PORTER

Funeral services for Lorraine Porter, 70, of Inwood were held on Monday in Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Inwood, with interment in Richland Cemetery.

She died Wednesday, Jan. 12, 1994, at her winter home in Green Valley, Ariz.

Lorraine Coyer was born July 30, 1923 near Inwood. She graduated from Inwood High School in 1939.

On Sept. 4, 1942, she married Stanley Porter in Orlando, Florida.

Her husband died Feb. 23, 1990.

She moved to Inwood and had been wintering in Green Valley for the past few winters. She also wrote the "Porterhouse Stakes" column in the West Lyon Herald for several years.

She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church, Pierians, PEO and Inwood Coffee Grounds Club.
