Leona Skillman, 76, of Rock Rapids died Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2004, at Parkview Manor, Ellsworth, Minn.

Services were Friday, Oct. 22, at Roste Funeral Home, Rock Rapids, with interment in Evergreen Lawn Cemetery, George.

Leona Stubbe was born Sept. 17, 1928, at George, the daughter of Henry and Bessie (Mammenga) Stubbe. She grew up near George and graduated from George High School.

On Feb. 15, 1947, she married Raymond Skillman in Sioux Falls, S.D. They lived in Sioux Falls before moving to George in December 1948. She worked for Swalve Produce several years. They later moved to Garretson, S.D., and worked in a hatchery. They also lived in Bandon and Harrisburg, S.D., where they worked as custodians. She later began working at Brimark Inn in Sioux Falls, retiring in 1987. During their retirement, they lived in Ellsworth and Rock Rapids. She raised and showed rabbits.
Her husband died May 26, 1998. She became a resident of Parkview Manor Oct. 13, 2004.

Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Gary (Judy) Meester and Mrs. Ron (Earleen "Lynn") Hinrichs, both of Ellsworth, and Mrs. Norbert (Laureen) Fick Sr. of Luverne, Minn.; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one stepgreat-grandchild; one brother, Lawrence of George, and one sister, Jayne Early of Sioux City.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one sister, Betty.
