Lester, Iowa - Helen K. Knobloch age 83 of Lester, died Thursday, May 5, 2016 at the Lyon Specialty Care in Rock Rapids, Iowa.

Funeral service will be 10:00 AM, Tuesday, May 10th at the Apostolic Christian Church in Lester, Iowa. Burial will follow at the Apostolic Christian Church Cemetery in Lester, Iowa.

Visitation will be Monday, May 9th with family present from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Apostolic Christian Church Fellowship Hall in Lester.

Helen Katherine Knobloch was born April 5, 1933 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Ernst and Pauline (Keubler) Schambach. She was raised in Bensenville, IL and graduated from Bensenville High School. While in high school Helen gave her life to the Lord and was baptized with her mother in the Chicago Apostolic Christian Church.

She was united in marriage to Wilbert “Willy” Knobloch on August 15, 1951 in Lester, IA. While they lived in Illinois she worked as a telephone operator for Illinois Bell. They moved to their farm south of Lester in 1961 where they farmed for the next 30 years. In 1991 they moved to their home in Lester. In her later years she helped at Dinner Date for several years.

She was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church of Lester, IA, American Legion Women’s Auxiliary and the Lyon County Historical Society. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, baking “Honey Cookies”, World Relief projects, playing Dominoes and feeding the birds. Also, she always made time to lend a helping hand to others.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Wilbert “Willy” Knobloch of Lester, IA; two children, Dietrich (wife Lex) Knobloch of Lennox, SD and Rita Knobloch of Lester, IA; two grandchildren, Brock (wife Katie) Knobloch of Little Rock, AR and Brandon (wife Sharita) Knobloch of Fort Lewis, WA; a great-grandchild, Charis Knobloch; five sisters-in-law, Annette Schambach of Marengo, IL, Wilma Hoogeveen of Rock Rapids, IA, Violet (husband Ray) Luthi of Pittsburg, KS, Vera Knobloch of Lester, IA and Phyllis Knobloch of Peoria, IL; brother-in-law, Adolph (wife Jean) Knobloch of Algona, IA; nieces, Audrey (husband Ron) Schulze of Lombard, IL and Denise (husband Chris) Eppel of Lindenhurst, IL; and many other extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernst and Pauline Schambach; and brother, Ernest Schambach.
