Viola E (Brinkhous) Morrell – May 25, 1924 – December 16, 2008

Viola Morrell - GREENEVILLE
Viola E. Morrell, 84, of Greeneville, passed away on December 16, 2008.

Born in Doon, Iowa, she was the daughter of the late Ervin and Grace Chase Brinkhous. She moved to Tennessee in 1949 and to Bristol in 1970.

She was a member of Tusculum Baptist Church in Greeneville, TN.

Mrs. Morrell was employed by the Sperry Plant, having retired in 1977.

Known as a wonderful mother and grandmother, she was always a very happy lady who was independent. She enjoyed spending time with her friends, going to Sunday school class and reading.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, J. Fred Morrell; and brother, Ivan Brinkhous.

She is survived by her daughter, Karen DeWitt and husband, Bill, of Greeneville; son, James R. Morrell and wife, Brenda, of Nashville; sisters, Lucille Fields, of Denver, CO, and Alfreda Griesse, of Sioux Falls, SD; two sisters-in-law, Ina Mae Williams and Barbara Roe, both of Elizabethton; brother-in-law, Nat Morrell, of Knoxville; three grandchildren: Michael Morrell, of Nashville, Mark DeWitt, of Johnson City, and Cheryl DeWitt, of Knoxville; and several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Thursday at 8:00 PM with Rev. Paul Rose officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM prior to the service.

A graveside service will be held on Friday at 11:00 AM in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Everyone is asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:45.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Tusculum Baptist Church, 775 Erwin Highway, Greeneville, TN 37745.
