Eldora Viola (Janssen) Lienemann Whitehorn – February 13, 1919 – December 25, 2009

SERVICES HELD TUESDAY FOR ELDORA WHITEHORN

Funeral services for Eldora Viola Whitehorn will be held on Tuesday, January 5, 2010 at 1:30 p.m. at the Hope Reformed Church, rural George, Iowa. Pastor Dave Vander Laan officiated with organist Marlene Stubbe and singer Angie Van Briesen. Interment will be held at the Hope Reformed Cemetery of George, Iowa.

Eldora Viola Whitehorn was born February 13, 1919 at George, Iowa, the daughter of Albert and Hiska (Snuttjer) Janssen. She attended country school and attended nurse aide and beautician schooling.

She married Behrend L Lienemann on November 20, 1942. To this union was born one son, Bernard John Lienemann. He died on April 1, 1951. His father, Behrend, never saw this child, as he lost his life in World War II.

Eldora married Floyd Whitehorn on June 14, 1952. One child was born to this union, Robert Whitehorn. Floyd passed away on June 14, 1961.

Eldora attended Beauty School in Sioux City, Iowa and became a licensed beautician. She worked in Sioux City and George.

Eldora and Robert moved to George, Iowa in July of 1968. She worked at the Sheldon Hospital for one year and then at the George Good Samaritan Center for 10 years as a nurse aide and beautician, retiring in 1979. She also worked for Jim and Agnes Jansen as a clerk in their department store for five years.

She was a member of the Hope Reformed Church and the Priscilla circle. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Federated Woman’s Club, and was active in the Dinner Date for 15 years. Eldora also liked to bowl, travel, and play cards with friends. She was always busy. She became a resident of the George Good Samaritan Center in 2004.

She leaves to cherish her memories, one son, Robert and wife Ronda Whitehorn of Cumming, Georgia, and two grandchildren, Kerinsa Marie Mullins and husband David Mullins of Macon, Georgia and Justin Ryan of Cumming, Georgia.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, one son, Bernard John and one brother, John Janssen
