Elfreda Griesse

April 16, 1928 - May 10, 2015

Elfreda Griesse, age 87, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and formerly of Rock Rapids, passed away Sunday May 10th at the Hillcrest Health Care Center in Hawarden, Iowa, where she was residing.

A private family burial will take place at a later date.

Elfreda Griesse passed away recently at Hillcrest Health Care Center. Elfreda was born on a farm near Rock Rapids, Iowa, to Ervin and Grace (Chase) Brinkhouse. After her mother passed away from a brief illness, Elfreda was raised by her Aunt Elsie and Uncle Roy Ricke of Doon, Iowa.

Elfreda married Alvin Griesse and they made their home on the family farm near Rock Rapids, Iowa. Elfreda graduated from Westmar College and was a teacher.

Elfreda is survived by her two children, Gary (Joy) Griesse; and Sharon (Richard) Ries; five grandsons: Trent (Sarah), Nathan (Becca), Derek (Libby), Tyson (Teri) Griesse, and Randy (Melissa) Ries; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Elfreda was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alvin Griesse.
