Lawrence E Lemke -- June 27, 1917 – December 28, 1989

Steen, Minnesota: Lawrence "Larry" E Lemke, 72, of Steen, Minn., formerly of rural route 3 in Sioux Falls, died Thursday in Royal C Johnson Veterans Memorial Hospital.

He was born June 27, 1917, in Rock Rapids, Iowa. He married Nelle Scholten in 1942. She died in 1975.

He married Mildred Paulsen on Oct. 11, 1986, in Paynesville, Minn. He was a World War II Army veteran and was a member of the American Legion and the Knights of Columbus Marquette Council.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred; two sisters: Leone Wicklund, Lemmon Grove, Calif.; Mrs Bob (Mary) Healy, Montrose.

Mass will begin at 10 am Saturday in St Mary's Catholic Church in Sioux Falls with burial in St Michael's Cemetery.
Scripture service will begin at 7 tonight at Barnett-Lewis Funeral Home.

Lawrence was the son of George Lemke and Catherine (McGuire) Lemke. His first wife was Petronella Mary Scholten, the daughter of Peter Scholten and Anna Kerkvliet.

His 2nd wife was Mildred Fern (nee Hills) Paulsen, the daughter of Lundy and Hettie (Pickard) Hills.
