Hills, Minnesota - Henry “Butch” Kelderman, age 66, of Hills, died Monday, October 27, 2014 at his home.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 30, 2014 at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Hills.

Burial with full military honors will take place at Pioneer Cemetery in Baltic, South Dakota.

Visitation will be Wednesday, October 29th from 2-8 p.m. with the family present from 6-8 p.m. at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Hills, Minnesota.

Henry “Butch” Charles Kelderman was born on March 11, 1948, in Rock Rapids, Iowa, the son of Henry and Susie (Smidstra) Kelderman. Butch grew up in the Luverne, Minnesota, area. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served from 1968 to 1970. On April 22, 1969, he married Gloria Kuhnert at the Beaver Valley Lutheran Church in Valley Springs, South Dakota. To this union two children were born Carrie and Cory. Butch worked various places throughout his life. He worked as a farmhand for Leon Siebenahler for seven years.

In 1976, he and his wife move to the Valley Springs, South Dakota, area, where he was a self-employed farmer until 1978. He drove milk truck for Les Schroeder for one year before being employed at the Sioux Falls Stockyards from 1979 to 2009. He then later started working for Luverne Truck Equipment until he was diagnosed with cancer. Butch’s hobbies included working with any kind of farm animal, camping, collecting antiques and often said “If you can’t buy it at Good Will you don’t need it.” He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed.

Butch is survived by his wife of forty-five years, Gloria Kelderman of Hills, Minnesota; two children, Carrie Kelderman and special friend Jeremy Albers and Cory (Alicia) Kelderman both of Hills, Minnesota. Butch had four grandchildren that he had nicknames for: Jeremy “Spud” Lawrence, Harlie “Twinkie”, Payton “Smurf” and Ashlee “Twerp” Kelderman. His siblings, included: Shirley (Jerry) Johnson of Hills, Minnesota, Roger (Colleen) Kelderman of Omaha, Nebraska, and Dave Kelderman of Luverne, Minnesota; and many nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and son-in-law, Alan Lawrence.
