Norman Groenenboom, 89, of Sibley died Thursday, May 27, 2010, at Country View Manor.

Services were Tuesday, June 1, at First Reformed Church, Sibley, with interment in Richland Cemetery, Inwood.

Mr. Groenenboom was born June 23, 1920, near Inwood, the son of Pete and Anna (Johnson) Groenenboom. He graduated from Inwood High School in 1938 and was named manager of Quaker Oats Elevator in Inwood in 1941. He served in the army from 1942-1945. He continued as manager with Quaker Oats in Inwood until 1955 when he was transferred to Rock Rapids. He continued as manager with Quaker Oats, later purchased by Cargill Inc., until retiring in December 1979. He worked for Roste Funeral Home in Rock Rapids and then Jurrens Funeral Home in Sibley until mid-2008.

In 1942 he married Mildred Christensen of Inwood. She died in 1984.

In 1986 he married Jeanette Borgman of Sibley. They lived in Sibley the past 24 years.

Survivors include his wife; one son, Dennis of Naperville Illinois.; one daughter, Mrs. Kenny (Lana) Seay of Monroeville N.J.; three grandchildren; three great grandchildren, four stepsons, four step-grandchildren and three step great-grand-children.

He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife and one sister, Glenara.
