Rock Rapids, Iowa - Lisa Warntjes, age 39 of Rock Rapids, died Sunday, July 20, 2014 at Sanford Hospital in Rock Rapids.

Funeral service will be 10:30 AM, Thursday, July 24th at First Reformed Church in Rock Rapids, with Rev. Dan Haggar officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery at Rock Rapids.

Visitation will be Wednesday, July 23rd from 2:00 to 8:00 PM, with family present from 5:30 to 8:00 PM at First Reformed Church in Rock Rapids.

In Lieu of flowers or gifts, family wishes for memorials to be directed to Rock Rapids Kid’s Club Building Project. Kid's Club is as a local non-profit daycare located at 309 N Story Street, Rock Rapids, Iowa 51246.

Lisa Anne Hulshof was born in Emmetsburg, Iowa, on February 6, 1975, to John and Donna (TeGrotenhuis) Hulshof. When she was two, her family moved to Little Rock, Iowa where she attended and graduated in 1993 from George-Little Rock schools. While in school she participated in basketball, volleyball, chorus, and swing choir. After graduation she attended South Dakota State University, Northwest Iowa Community College and received her degree from Northwestern College.

On March 9, 1996 she was united in marriage to Todd Warntjes at Salem Reformed Church in Little Rock, Iowa. They made their home in Sheldon, Iowa, and moved to Rock Rapids in 1997. Blessed to this union were three children, Mitchell Drew, Anna Elizabeth, and Isaac William. Lisa's focus was always on her children and they were the great joy of her life. Mitchell said, "she was an awesome mom, the best". Anna says she was "the best mom ever."

Lisa went to work for Frontier Bank in Rock Rapids for 14 years, resigning in 2009. She then worked for Ebel, Heard accounting for two years. In 2009 she was diagnosed with breast cancer. She fought hard, through chemotherapy, radiation and surgeries. While she was in remission, she made up for lost time and lived life to the fullest. Her cancer reoccurred in 2013. She again endured chemotherapy, radiation, surgery, and hospitalizations.

On Sunday, July 20, 2014 she went to be with Jesus. Those fortunate enough to be close to Lisa knew her sense of humor, no nonsense attitude and absolute devotion to Todd and her kids. She loved shopping and a good bargain, and always found greeting cards with the best "zingers".

Lisa was a member of First Reformed Church of Rock Rapids where she served on the nursery committee and was a member of Circle of Kindness. These women were her sisters in Christ. She served on the board of Rock Rapids Kids Club which had a special place in her heart because of the care they gave and the love they showed to her children.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband Todd and her three children; Mitchell, Anna, and Isaac, of Rock Rapids Iowa; parents, John and Donna Hulshof of Rock Rapids, Iowa; brother, Brian (Marna) Hulshof and their children, Wyatt, Grace, Noah, and Ella of Le Mars, Iowa; sister, Kelli (Ian) Macleod and their daughter Abigail of Portland, Oregon; grandparents, Arnold and Doreen Hulshof of Sioux Center, Iowa; father-in-law Butch (Judy) Warntjes of Rock Valley, Iowa; brothers-in-law Alan (Sheryl), Arnie (Nel), Wendell (Barb), and Heath (Robbie); and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother-in-law Pat Warntjes; her grandparents, Gaynor and Elsie TeGrotenhuis, and her cousin Kim Hulshof.
