Alvin Hassebroek, 84, of Little Rock died Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2004, at Merrill Pioneer Community Hospital, Rock Rapids.

Services were Saturday at United Methodist Church, Rock Rapids, with interment in Riverview Cemetery.

Mr. Hassebroek was born Nov. 21, 1919, in Little Rock, the son of John and Elsie (Houwen) Hassebroek. He grew up and attended schools in the Little Rock area. He worked for area farmers and drove truck for Patton Trucking in Rock Rapids.

He married Helen Busch at Luverne, Minn. They lived in Rock Rapids two years and from 1947-48, they lived on a farm near Rock Rapids. In 1949, they purchased a farm near Little Rock. They retired in 1991 and moved into Little Rock.

His wife died Feb. 16, 2000. He became a resident of Rock Rapids Health Centre in 2001.
He served as a soil conservation commissioner.
Survivors include one son, LeRoy of Little Rock; one daughter, Marlene Kruger of Little Rock; three granddaughters and one brother, Raymond of Sioux City.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; one brother, Donald, and one sister, Pearl Stratmeir-Voigt.
