Andrew Wagenaar, 72, of Luverne, died Saturday, April 4, 2009, at Sanford Hospital, Sioux Falls, S.D.

Surviving are his wife, Janet; five children, Timothy Phyllis) Wagenaar, Newell, Iowa, Jeffrey (Chong) Wagenaar, Sioux Falls, Kathryn (Dennis) Halvorson, Dell Rapids, S.D., Jenna (Royce) Vastenhout, Dell Rapids, and Andrea Wagenaar, Hills; one brother, Ubbe (Erma) Wagenaar, Adrian; one sister, Elizabeth (Bernard) Fursee, Sioux Falls; and 10 grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hartquist Funeral Home, Engebretson Chapel, Luverne.

The service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Palisade Lutheran Church, rural Beaver Creek. Burial will be in Palisade Lutheran Cemetery.

Andrew Wagenaar was born October 17, 1936 in Adrian, Nobles County, Minnesota, the son of Hummo Wagenaar and Tena (Jurrens) Wagner.

Andrew married Janet Lenor Meredith.

Andrew was one of the 13 children of Hummo Wagenaar and Tena Jurrens. They lived in Grant, Lyon County, until the 1925 Iowa Census where 7 of their children are listed with them. By 1930 they had moved to Minnesota where the rest of the children were born.

A number of them, including the parents are buried in Lyon County, Iowa
