Eno John “Hap” Reiter – September 27, 1910 – November 26, 2005

MARBLE ROCK — Funeral services for Eno John Reiter, 95, formerly of 124 Railroad St. in Marble Rock, will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Temple Baptist Church in Charles City with Pastor Rick Fessel officiating. Burial will be in the Sunnyside Memory Gardens in Charles City.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Reid’s Funeral Chapel, 519 N. First St. in Greene. There will be no visitation at the church.

Eno John Reiter was born Sept. 27, 1910, in Little Rock, Lyon County, Iowa, a son of Martin and Cora (Cirksena) Reiter and died Saturday (Nov. 26, 2005) at Salsbury Baptist Home in Charles City.

He received his education in rural schools both in the Dike and Janesville areas. As a young man he worked as a farmhand for a number of years in the Waverly and Janesville areas. He was united in marriage to Isabell Cecelia Hesse on Sept. 1, 1936, in Waverly. To this union were blessed five children.

He moved to Marble Rock in 1944 and found employment with Rockford Brick & Tile. He remained a faithful employee for 30 years, retiring in 1976.

Eno was known as ‘Hap’ — short for ‘Happy’ — which characterized of his delightful personality. Much of his life was spent in service to others. Eno loved to work and kept himself busy helping his family and friends.

Living family members include his wife, Isabell, of Charles City; two daughters, Maxine (Jerry) Watkins of Charles City and Marlyss Reiter of Chapin; three sons, Melvin (Ann) Reiter of Charles City, Merlyn (Ramona) Reiter of Rockford, and Alvin Reiter of Marble Rock; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-nine great grandchildren; one sister, Cora Ann Reiter of Waterloo; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Samuel Richard Reiter, Edward Reiter and Floyd “Flip” Reiter; two grandsons, Melvin Reiter Jr. and Kevin Reiter.
