Services were held Monday, August 18 at the Dell Rapids Lutheran Church for Mrs. Lizzie Rentschler who died August 13 at the home of her son Robert in Azusa, Calif.

The Rev. Edwin Bersagle conducted the services and burial was in the Dell Rapids Cemetery. Her six grandsons were pallbearers. They are Charles Berge, Warren Harming, Jim John, Verlyn Rentschler, Curtis Rentschler and Monte Harming.

Lizzie Bauer was born July 14, 1879 in Germany, coming to the United States with her parents when she was four years old and settling in Iowa. In 1910 she was married to Charles F. Rentschler and resided in Iowa until 1918 when they moved to a farm near Dell Rapids.

Ten children were born to this union, of whom eight survive. They are Edward, Dell Rapids; Charles, Colton; Lloyd, Egan; Robert, Azusa; Lydia (Mrs. Lester Berge), Dell Rapids; Eva (Mrs. Wesley Glaeseman), Glendale, Calif.; Luella (Mrs. Howard Harming), Elkton; Delia, (Mrs. Elmer Johnson), Brookings. Also surviving are 27 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, two sisters and four brothers. She was preceded in death by her husband, a son and a daughter.

Mrs. Rentschler was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was a faithful member all her life.

Elizabeth Frieda Bauer was born in Germany July 14, 1879, the daughter of Henry Christian Bauer and Dorathea “Dora” Jepp. Her parents are buried in Lyon County.

In 1900 the family lived in Plato, Sioux County, Iowa and by 1910 they have moved to Richland, Lyon County, Iowa.
