DEATH NOTICE: Sioux Falls, South Dakota - Melody Bendinger, age 64, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, died Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at her residence in Sioux Falls.

A funeral service will be 12:00 p.m., Monday March 25, 2013 at Jurrens Funeral Home in Rock Rapids, Iowa. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery in Rock Rapids. Visitation will be Monday, March 25, 2013 from 11:00 a.m. to time of service at 12:00 p.m. at Jurrens Funeral Home of Rock Rapids.

Melody Ann Bendinger was born October 11, 1948 in Rock Rapids, Iowa, to William and Verda (Husmann) Snitselaar. She was raised in Rock Rapids and graduated from Lincoln High School in Sioux Falls. On July 17, 1966 she was united in marriage in Rock Rapids with Lee Jay Bendinger. The couple made their home in Rock Rapids until Lee’s military service took them to Homestead, Florida and Tucson, Arizona.

They returned to Sioux Falls, in 1980. She worked at Shopping News, the BX, Breadsmith and her last employer was Hy-Vee in Sioux Falls. She enjoyed following sports, especially the Minnesota Vikings and Arizona Wildcats basketball. She had a love for horses, bald eagles, reading, flowers and listening to beautiful music. This past Wednesday, March 20, 2013 she passed away at her home in Sioux Falls with her family by her side. She was 64. She will be greatly missed.

Melody is survived by her husband, Lee Bendinger of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; her daughters, Dawn (Bill) Bedell of Tucson, Arizona; and Shawna Bendinger of Volga, South Dakota; three grandchildren and three great grandchildren, Megan (Steven) Handville of Tucson, Arizona, and their children Shaelynn and William; Michael (Chrish) Moss and their son Joshua also of Tucson, Arizona; siblings, brother, Roger (Dolly) Snitselaar of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, sister, Jacque (Marvin) Koel of Osage, Minnesota, brothers, Jerry Snitselaar of Marshalltown, Iowa, Paul (Pat) Snitselaar of Glendale, Arizona, and David Snitselaar of Denver, Colorado; and other extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Verda Snitselaar; brother, William Snitselaar Jr.; and grandson Joshua Moss.
