Verda (Husmann) Snitselaar – October 5, 1919 – April 22, 2011

Sioux Falls, SD : Verda Snitselaar, age 91 of Sioux Falls, SD formerly of Rock Rapids, IA died Friday, April 22, 2011 at Good Samaritan Luther Manor in Sioux Falls, SD.

The family of Verda Snitselaar will be available to receive friends Tuesday, April 26th from 2:00 – 3:30 p.m. at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Rock Rapids.

Graveside services will follow in the Riverview Cemetery at Rock Rapids, IA with Pastor Tim Pulkrabek, officiating.

Verda (Husmann) Snitselaar was born October 5, 1919 at Rock Rapids, IA the daughter of Edna (Kilmer) and Carl Husmann. Verda grew up in Rock Rapids where she attended public school.

Verda was united in marriage to William "Bill" Snitselaar on January 31, 1938 at Rock Rapids, IA. They made their home in Rock Rapids and later moved to a farm south of Rock Rapids. Verda was a loving wife and mother. She enjoyed raising her family, baking, sewing, knitting, crocheting, gardening and canning. In October of 1956, they moved into Rock Rapids and in March of 1962, they moved to Sioux Falls, SD. While living in Sioux Falls she worked at Bull and Lion as a server. In 1972, Verda and Bill moved to Branson, MO and in 1976, they moved back to Rock Rapids. On May 8, 1993, Bill died after fifty-five years of marriage. In 1994, Verda moved to Sioux Falls and in September of 2010, she became a resident of the Good Samaritan Luther Manor in Sioux Falls. Verda died this past Friday morning, April 22, 2011 at the Good Samaritan Luther Manor in Sioux Falls. SD at the age of ninety-one.

She is survived by her children, Roger (Dolly) Snitselaar of Sioux Falls, SD; Jacque (Marvin) Koel of Detroit Lakes, MN; Jerry (Michelle) Snitselaar of Marion, IA; Paul (Patsy) Snitselaar of Glendale, AZ; David Snitselaar of Denver, CO and Melody (Lee) Bendinger of Sioux Falls, SD; along with twenty grandchildren and thirty-two great grandchildren.

Verda was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Edna; her husband, William; son William L.; great grandson, Joshua; three brothers and four sisters.
