George, Iowa - Ardyce A. Huff, age 88 of George, died Monday, January 14, 2013 at the Good Samaritan Center in George.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 18, 2013 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in George, Iowa with Rev. Lorna Halaas, officiating. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Lawn Cemetery at George.

Visitation will be Thursday, January 17th from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. with the family present from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Jurrens Funeral Home of George.

George, Iowa - Ardyce A. Huff, age 88 of George, Iowa, died Monday, January 14, 2013 at the Good Samaritan Center in George, Iowa.

Ardyce Arlene Huff was born on March 24, 1924, the daughter of Otto and Martha (Frey) Greve on a farm north of Melvin, Iowa. She grew up there and attended Country School at Baker #3 in Osceola County and later Melvin High School where she graduated in 1941. Ardyce then went on to Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, Iowa, and graduated in 1943. She received her teaching certificate to teach elementary level education. Ardyce taught fourth grade in Rolfe, Iowa, from 1943 to 1944, then moved to Sibley and taught there from 1944 to 1946.

On October 1, 1946, she was united in marriage to Virgil M. Huff and to this union five children were born, Sheryl, Daryl, Dianne, Dave and Deb. The couple lived southeast of George until 1989, when they retired and moved to town. After forty-seven years of marriage, Virgil passed away on March 6, 1994.

Ardyce was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in George, where she was active in the Ladies Circle and as the Sunday School Treasurer for many years. She was also a member of the Historical Society and served on the George Library board for a number of years.

She enjoyed bowling, baking cookies and bars, gardening and sewing. She made hundreds of baby blankets and pillows over the years for family and the craft department at Good Sam. Ardyce moved into the Good Samaritan Center in George at the end of 2010 and passed away there on Monday, January 14, 2013 at the age of eighty-eight.

Ardyce is survived by four children, Sheryl (Dennis) Baucom of Centennial, Colorado, Dianne (Gene) Vogl of Rock Rapids, Iowa, Dave (Cathy) Huff of Ashton, Iowa and Deb Beres and Dean Johnson of Worthing, South Dakota; fifteen grandchildren, Michael (Jennie) Baucom of Longmont, Colorado, Steven Baucom of Aurora, Colorado, Gary Anderson of Rock Rapids, Iowa, Jeremy Anderson of Rock Valley, Iowa, Adam Huff of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Matt (Sarah) Huff of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Allison Huff of Spencer, South Dakota, Lissa (Greg) Harson of Little Rock, Iowa, Chad (Kally) Vogl of Lemoyne, Nebraska, Tanner Vogl and Leah Freese of Rock Rapids, Iowa, Katie (Jason) Vreeman of Rock Rapids, Iowa, Marcie (Jackson) Schuiteman of Sioux Center, Iowa, Sam (Kate) Huff of Yankton, South Dakota, and Alex Beres of Worthing, South Dakota; twenty great-grandchildren; and three nieces and other extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Virgil; sister, Marlys Luedtke; and son, Daryl Huff.
