Russell Renken, age 74, of Sibley, Iowa, passed away on Monday, December 31, 2012, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Funeral Services will be Friday, January 4, 2013 at 10:30 A.M. at the Andringa Funeral Home in Sibley. Rev. Terry Simm officiating.

Burial in the Evergreen Lawn Cemetery in George, Iowa.

Visitation will be Thursday, January 3, 2013 from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. with the family present from 6:30 to 8:00 P.M. at the Andringa Funeral Home in Sibley

Russell Renken, age 74, of Sibley, Iowa, passed away on Monday, December 31, 2012, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Burial in the Evergreen Lawn Cemetery in George, Iowa.

Visitation will be Thursday, January 3, 2013 from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. with the family present from 6:30 to 8:00 P.M. at the Andringa Funeral Home in Sibley.

Russell Henry Renken was born on August 16, 1938 in Ashton, Iowa. He was the son of Henry and Martha (Niehaus) Renken. He lived his youth on a farm in the Ashton and Ocheyedan, Iowa areas, where he attended school. Russell served in the United States Army from 1961 to 1963, during the Korean Conflict. He was stationed in Alaska.

He was united in marriage to Donna Lee Jurrens of George, Iowa on February 21, 1964, in George.

Russell worked for farmers in the Worthington, Boyden, George and Sibley areas. He rented a farm south of George and farmed until he moved to Sibley in 1984, when he worked for Mouw Trucking until he retired. He was a hard working person.

Russell enjoyed fishing, fixing lawn mowers and toys, farming and riding in the country looking at crops. He especially enjoyed visiting with his children and grandchildren.

He passed away on Monday, December 31, 2012 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Those left to cherish his memories are his wife of 48 years: Donna Renken of Sibley, Iowa; three sons: Randy and wife Illadene Renken of Sheldon, Iowa, and their children: Justin Renken and Kristi Renken, Joey Renken of Sibley, and Danny Renken of Lone Grove, Oklahoma; one brother: Lester and wife Marcella Renken of Sibley; one sister: Margaret and husband Melvin Janssen of Bigelow, Minn.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters: Dora Norman, Marie Bruns and Lois Renken; brothers-in-law: Marvin Bruns and Arlan Norman; sisters-in-law: Dianna Jurrens and Nancy Jurrens.
