Obituary:

Inwood, Iowa - Dorothy Jensen, 85, of Inwood, died Sunday, December 30, 2012 at Sanford Canton-Inwood Hospital in Canton, South Dakota. Funeral service will be held Friday, January 4, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Inwood, with Rev. John Wolf officiating. Burial will follow at Richland Cemetery in Inwood. Visitation will be Thursday, January 3, 2013 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Porter Funeral Home in Inwood. Condolences may be left for the family at www.porterfuneralhomes.com.

Dorothy was born April 20, 1927 to Kenneth and Nettie (Knox) Helder near Inwood, Iowa. She grew up in the Inwood area attending country school grades 1 through 8, and high school at Inwood. She attended college in Cedar Falls and took many correspondent courses and then taught school for ten years. Dorothy married Erland Jensen at Canton, South Dakota, in 1952. Erland passed away in 1958. Dorothy and Lyle Jensen were married in 1960, and together lived on a farm near Inwood until retiring and moving to Inwood in 1985 and to Village Inn Apartments in 2009. Lyle passed away November 30, 2010. Dorothy was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church Women and the American Legion Auxiliary.

Survivors include three sons, Rodney (Shirley) Jensen of San Antonio, Texas, Rich (Paula) Jensen of Larchwood, Jim (Rhonda) Jensen of Larchwood, Iowa; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Orval Larson of Harrisburg, South Dakota; sister-in-law, Stacy Jensen of Palm Desert, Calif.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husbands, Erland and Lyle Jensen; sisters, Doris Jensen and Lois Larson; brother, Wesley Helder.
