BRAIN TUMOR FATAL
FOR MRS. L. HETRICK

Death Comes Sunday After
Months of Pain; First
Ill in 1923

Many months of suffering for Mrs. Lyman Hetrick, of this city, were ended by death, early Sunday morning. A brain tumor, discovered for the first time in December, 1923, was the cause of death. Treatment shortly after its discovery, caused it to lay dormant until three months ago, when Mrs. Hetrick was again taken ill. She was again taken to Rochester for treatment, but grew steadily worse until the time of her death. For the past two months she has been confined to her bed.

Mrs. Hetrick came here with her husband on February 23, 1916. They settled on a farm three miles east of this city, where they have continued to make their home, and where two of their three children, Lyman, 8 years of age, and Glen, 4, were born. A daughter, Alice, was born in LaSalle County, Illinois, where Mr. and Mrs. Hetrick formerly made their home. Up to the time of her illness in 1923, Mrs. Hetrick took an active part in the work of her church and in many community undertakings. In spite of the fact that she devoted much of her time to her family and home, she had many outside interests and consequently made many friends here, who mourn her loss.

Florence Mae Kohrt was born in LaSalle County, Illinois, on December 2, 1889, She was the daughter of H. L. and Clara Kohrt. Mr. Kohrt, who made his home here for many years, now lives in Iowa City. After completing her education in the public schools, she attended Pleasant View Luther College, at Ottawa, Illinois, where she graduated in the normal course. After teaching for two years she married Lyman Hetrick on November 29, 1911, at the parental home in LaSalle County. They made their home on a farm there until the spring of 1916 when they came to this city to make their home.

Funeral services were held from the Methodist church in this city, yesterday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Rev. F. E. Burgess was in charge of the services there and at the grave in Riverview Cemetery.

Besides her husband and children, she is survived by her father, H. L. Kohrt sister, Mrs. Roy Kilmer, of Fargo, North Dakota and another sister, Mrs. Edna Kates of Folsom, Illinois.
