Marilyn Mae (Polzine) Walker – March 1, 1932 – July 13, 2007

Marilyn Walker, 75, of Villard, died Friday, July 13, at Fairview University Hospital in Minneapolis from liver failure.

A memorial service was held on Saturday, July 21, at Villard United Methodist Church in Villard with the Rev. Mark Bateson officiating. Interment was in the Lake Leven Cemetery in Villard. Arrangements were with Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Glenwood.

Marilyn Mae Polzine, the daughter of Elmer and Leta (Kostman) Polzine, was born on March 1, 1932, in Little Rock, Iowa. She lived on a farm in Iowa until 1942 and then moved to the Villard area. She attended school in Villard and graduated from Villard High School in 1950.

Marilyn was employed at the Villard Elevator, the Villard High School, was a day care provider and did computer work from home for many years.

On July 25, 1953, Marilyn was united in marriage to Lawrence S. Walker at Villard United Methodist Church. The couple farmed near Villard. Marilyn and Lawrence shared 53 years of marriage.

Marilyn was active in the Villard United Methodist Church acting as treasurer from 1975 - 2005. She belonged to the Northside Birthday Club and was a member of the Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed reading, knitting, counted cross stitch, writing in a diary daily, watching sports, baking and feeding the birds. She especially loved spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Lawrence; sons, Jeffrey (Cynthia) of Villard, John (Anne) Basalt, Colo.; daughters, Linda (Tom) DeWitt of Carlos, Kathy (Bob) Jacobs of Villard and Cindy (Jerry) Welinski of Clear Lake; grandchildren, Jodi, Tara and Travis DeWitt, Cory and Jermey Walker, Benjamin, Hannah, Nicholas and Grace Welinski, Kaylee and Bradley Jacobs and Manning and Ruby Walker; sisters, Marlys (Fred) Weispfenning of Glenwood and Barbara (David) Fegan of Rock Rapids, Iowa; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents and an infant daughter.
