Gustav Frederick Zornig – March 21, 1891 – May 10, 1956

HOLD LAST RITES FOR GUSTAV ZORNIG AT LESTER MON.
DIED SUDDENLY AT HIS HOME THURSDAY FOLLOWING STROKE

Services for Gustav Zornig of Lester were held in the Lester Methodist church Monday afternoon following his death on Thursday, May 10, 1956.

Mr. Zornig was a native of Lyon County and a prominent farmer north of Lester. He suffered a stroke from which he didn't recover while at work in the fields of his farm.

He was born in Lyon County on March 21, 1891; the son of Fredrick and Minnie Zornig. Survivors include his wife, Maurine, two sons, Harold of Ames and William of Rock Rapids, three daughters, Mrs. Jess Cose of Rock Rapids; Joyce, Mrs. Robert Haegele of Ames and Jeanette, Mrs. Lavaine Olson of Sioux Falls, and one sister, Mrs. Clara Miller of Los Angeles. He is also survived by seven grandchildren.

The funeral services were held at 2 pm May 14, with the Rev. Gerald Wilson officiating. Interment was in Riverview cemetery at Rock Rapids. A quartet consisting of Mrs. Don Vande Vooren, Wayne Van Wyhe, Don Vande Vooren and Mrs. Duane Gage sang "What a Friend" and the "Old Rugged Cross"

Bearers include Vern Danish, Nate George, Don Vande Vooren, Harry Stuerman, Charles Gage and Fred Huisman. Lockwood Funeral home was in charge of arrangements.
