Linnea K. Cose, age 90 of Larchwood, IA died Saturday, March 26, 2011 at the Sanford Hospital in Canton, SD.

Funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, March 30, 2011at the United Church of Christ in Larchwood, with Pastor Kelly Volk officiating. Burial will follow in the Larchwood Cemetery of Larchwood, IA.

Visitation will be Tuesday, March 29th from 2-8 P.M. with the family present from 6-8 P.M. at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Larchwood, IA.

Linnea Katherine Zornig was born on February 7, 1921, the daughter of Gus and Maurine Zornig. She was born and raised on a farm near Lester, Iowa. She attended country school there and later graduated from Rock Rapids High School in 1939.

Linnea was united in marriage to Jesse “Jess” Cose at the Little Brown Church, in Nashua, IA. In 1958, Linnea and her family moved to Sioux Falls, SD and she worked for Dakota Industries as a Seamstress.

Three years after Linnea husband’s retirement in 1989, they moved to Larchwood, IA. She was a member of the United Church of Christ of Larchwood. She enjoyed camping trips with her husband and children, car rides around town, watching wildlife outside her window, playing solitary on her computer, sewing, and knitting and crocheting stocking caps, scarves and mittens for Mid-Sioux. She also loved to read emails from her family members. In November of 2010, Linnea moved to the Fellowship Village in Inwood, IA, where this past February she enjoyed celebrating her 90th birthday.

On March 26, 2011, Linnea passed away at the Sanford Hospital in Canton, SD.

Left to cherish her memory are her four children, Donald Cose and (special friend Karen) of Reno, NV, James (Elena) Cose of Sneedville, TN, Robert (Kym) Cose of Reno, NV and Pamela (Lanny) Steen of Larchwood, IA; eleven grandchildren, Julia (Greg) Hoefert of Sioux Falls, SD, Jason (Jackie) Cose of Brookings, SD, Matthew (Paula) of Atlanta, GA, Zachary Cose of Sneedville, TN, Brian Cose of Pheonix, AZ, Kristin (Donald) Fleming of Reno, NV, Mike (Kristie) Steen, Dustin (April) Steen , Melinda (Josh) Moser and Lance Steen all of Larchwood, IA; eighteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; two brothers, Harold (Mary) Zornig of Hull, GA and William (Shirley) Zornig of Sioux Falls, SD; one sister, Jeanette (Chuck) Stadtfeld of Sioux Falls, SD; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Jess and one sister, Joyce Haegele.

Note: Her birth mother was actually Ella (Garf) Zorning. Her mother, Ella, died 2 months after she was born on April 21, 1921., and she was raised by Gustav “Gus” Zornig’s 2nd wife Maurine Bertha (Wick) Zornig.
