Obituary:
Rock Rapids, Iowa - Rosie Sonius, 93, of Rock Rapids, formerly of Alvord, Iowa, died Tuesday, June 3, 2008 at the Rock Rapids Health Centre.

Funeral Service will be 10:30 am Saturday at Christ Lutheran Church, Alvord. Burial at Richland Cemetery, Inwood, Iowa. Rev. Carla Jensen will be officiating. Visitation will be Friday with the family present 6:30-8 pm Friday at Porter Funeral Home of Rock Valley.

Rosie was born September 12, 1914 near Inwood, Iowa, daughter of Julius and Helena (Grassman) Heerde. She married Henry Sonius on February 21, 1937 at Canton, South Dakota. They first lived in Indiana before moving back to the Inwood area in 1942 and farmed. Henry and Rosie moved to Alvord in 1956 where Henry did carpentry and Rosie would help doing the finishing of the woodwork. Rosie and Henry also took care of the Alvord Cemeteries for many years. Henry died March 15, 1997. Rosie lived in Alvord two more years before moving to the Canton Good Samaritan Center and later to Rock Rapids Health Centre in 2005.

Rosie is survived by two sisters-in-law, Myona Heerde of Milford, Iowa and Jackie Heerde of Rock Rapids; many nieces and nephews including Dave Naatjes of Lake Norden, South Dakota.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry; brothers, Julius Jr, Willie, and Kenny Heerde; and sister, Erma Naatjes.
