Obituary: John “Butch” Wiekamp Jr., 56, of rural Inwood, Iowa died Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, after an 11 week battle with melanoma cancer. Funeral service will be 10:30 am Saturday, November 10, 2012 at Porter Funeral Home of Rock Valley, Iowa. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, November 9, 2012 at Porter Funeral Home of Rock Valley with the family present from 6:30 – 8:30 pm. Condolences may be left for the family at www.porterfuneralhomes.com.

John “Butch” Wiekamp, Jr. was born December 22, 1955 at Sioux Center, Iowa, son of John Sr. and Dina (Kleyn) Wiekamp. John married Bernice Fluit on June 30, 1978 at Inwood, Iowa. Together they lived southeast of Inwood where John farmed with his family, and he was well known for his loyalty for International Harvester tractors. He especially enjoyed working on them with his sons in the shop. John loved spending time with his family.

Surviving relatives include his wife, Bernice; children, LaRae (Phillip) Erickson of Hull, Iowa; Jonathan (Jana) Wiekamp of Inwood and William Wiekamp (his special friend, Danielle Vanden Bosch) of Inwood; his dear grandson, Jake Russell Wiekamp; brother, Gerrit (Carol) Wiekamp of Sanborn, Iowa; sister, Alma (Arlan) Verburg of Rock Valley; and several nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his parents, John Sr. and Dina Wiekamp and niece, Deanna Wiekamp
