Albert "A.J." Boersma, 96, of Sioux Center died Sunday, Oct. 26, 2003, at a Sioux Center nursing facility.
Services were Thursday at First Christian Reformed Church, Sioux Center, with interment in Richland Cemetery, Inwood.
Mr. Boersma was born Jan. 22, 1907, in Rinsumageest, The Netherlands, the son of Cornelius and Pietje (Zylstra) Boersma. The family came to the United States when he was 4 and lived in Prospect Park, N.J., before moving to the Fairview, S.D., area. They later moved to a farm near Inwood. He attended Western Christian High School in Hull and Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Mich. He graduated from Westmar College in Le Mars and taught in Pease, Minn., until becoming principal at Sioux Center Christian School in 1948. He was an instructor and principal there 23 years. For several years, he also was a landscape horticulturist for the Dordt College grounds department.
Survivors include 12 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.
