George Van Den Top, son of Elizabeth Rozeboom Van Den Top and Gerrit Van Den Top, was born Nov. 26, 1923 at Alvord, IA where he grew up and received his education. He served with the U.S. Navy during WW II and after the war, he returned to Alvord.

He married Hendrika F. Leloux on June 20, 1946 at Alvord. After their marriage, the couple farmed in the Larchwood-Inwood, IA and Monroe, SD areas. They have lived in the Sioux Falls area since 1968.

George retired from Piorier Equipment Co. in 1987. He was a member of Community Reformed Church, the V.F.W., the American Legion, as well as being actively involved in other civic and church activities. In his retirement he enjoyed raising hibiscus and rose plants.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Hendrika; 1 son, David, Sioux Falls; 3 daughters, Linda Neilson and her husband, Charles, Spearfish, SD, Mary Anderson and her husband, Richard, Black Hawk, SD and Connie Evenson and her husband, Kirk, Platte City, MO;
3 grandsons, Leif and Tyghe Neilson and Matthew Evenson; 1 step-grandson, Stuart Anderson; 3
step-granddaughters, Kelli Anderson and Deb and Diana Dawley; 1 step-great granddaughter, Tashia; 3 brothers, Dick, Canton, SD, William, Rock Valley, IA and Gerrit, Jr., Canton, SD; 3 sisters, Alice Langstraat, Larchwood, IA, Gertrude Oostra and her husband, Gerald, Sheldon,
IA and Jennie Brower and her husband, Ron, Ellsworth, MN; and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents a brother, Gerrit John Van Den Top; and a son-in-law, Darryl Dawley.
