Doris F. Benson, age 88, of Rock Rapids, IA died at the Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota on August 17th, 2012.

Doris Faye Benson was born on May 13, 1924 in Minneota, Minnesota to George L. and Dora (Holm) Benson. As a child her family lived in Allendorf, IA and also Garretson, SD. Doris graduated from high school in Garretson and then followed her family to Spencer, SD where she helped her father in the grain business.

In 1948 Doris was married to Don Jacauart. They lived and worked in Mitchell, SD for many years. Doris was an excellent bookkeeper and had a knack for being the "boss". She loved to work and shared her talents with many. She worked as the bookkeeper and office manager for Mitchell Concrete, G. H. Lindekugel & Sons, and the Firesteel Heights Nursing Home in Mitchell. She also was a bookkeeper for Selland Cattle and even drove truck when needed.

Later she enjoyed managing Sylvan Lake, Legion Lake, and Mystery Mountain Resorts in the Black Hills along with the Chute Rooster Steakhouse in Hills City. Being a twelve hour a day worker, she was known on occasion to get a little frustrated with the work ethic of the "modern generation." She loved living for a few years at her cabin on Twin Lakes in SD and later in life enjoyed living in Woonsocket, SD. The last few months she lived at Rosewood Heights in Rock Rapids, IA and had great times with her niece and family in Rock Rapids.

Doris always loved the outdoors and was an accomplished golfer and bowler in her younger years. Fishing and the big pheasant hunts were enjoyed. She also loved to read! Doris loved spending time with family and friends and would do anything to help someone in time of need. She was especially fond of young children. Her great and great-great nieces and nephews will remember her well! Doris was a loving sister, aunt, cousin, and special friend who will be greatly missed.

Doris is survived by her brother Roger (Norma) Benson of Tracy, MN; sister-in-law Donna Benson of Sioux Falls; and six nieces and nephews; Barbara (Dave) Foltz of Rock Rapids, IA; Gale (Mary Jo) Benson of Sioux Falls; Brad (Lisa) Benson of Salem, SD; Scott (Wendy) Benson of Monticello, UT; Julie (Keith) Rayman of Tracy, MN; and Melissa (Brad) Anderson of Sioux Falls; cousins; great and great- great nieces and nephews; and many special friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George L. and Dora Benson and her brother, Wallace Benson.
