Charles Swanson, 70, of Chicago, Ill., died Sunday, Sept. 24, 2000, at Swedish Covenant Hospital.

Services were Sept. 27 at Swedish Covenant Hospital Chapel in Chicago with private committal services in Grandview Covenant Cemetery, rural Larchwood.

Mr. Swanson was born April 2, 1930, in Sioux Falls, S.D. He grew up and attended school in Lyon County and graduated from Larchwood High School. He was in the armed services from 1950-54 serving as a navy medical corpsman attached to the marines.

On Nov. 27, 1954, he married Elsie Hanson in Butte, Mont. They lived in Sioux Falls from 1970-79 where he worked in credit services at McKennan Hospital. They then moved to Chicago where he worked in the credit service of Swedish Covenant Hospital until his retirement in December 1994.

Survivors include two sons, Charles Jr. of Pana, Ill., and Craig of Bozeman, Mont; one daughter, Julie Swanson of Bozeman; two grandchildren; one brother, Richard of Sioux Falls, and two sisters, Elizabeth Anderson of Palm Desert, Calif, and Priscilla Swanson of Sioux Falls.
