Anne Wells, 91, of Great Bend, Kan., died Friday, April 30,1999, at Integrated Health Services Center, Great Bend.

Services were Tuesday at Faith Baptist Church, Rock Rapids, with interment in Riverview Cemetery.

Anne Groote was born July 8, 1907, in George, the daughter of Bert and Bertha (Graves) Groote. She grew up and attended country school in the George area.

On Feb. 3, 1927, she married Renos Wells at Worthington, Minn. They lived Rock Rapids and at Lakewood. When her husband became employed with the state highway department, they lived in Sheldon and Hospers. In 1939, they purchased the Doon Corner Skelly Station and operated it 16 years before they moved into Doon. For over 20 years, she worked as a cook in the Doon School. The couple retired about 1972.

Her husband died Aug. 31, 1984. In June 1995, she moved to Great Bend and in October 1998, she became a resident of Integrated Health Services.

Survivors include one son, Jim of Rock Rapids; two daughters, Mrs. Owen (Leila) Warneke of Plymouth, Minn., and Mrs. Jack (Bonnie) Sarff of Great Bend; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, George of George and Frederick of Sibley, and three sisters, Leona Hendrickson of Slayton, Minn., Bertha Klaassen of Sibley and Ida Klinkenborg of Rushmore, Minn.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Jay; three brothers, John, Bernard and Lubertus, and one sister, Nellie Kirk.
