John Vivian, 51, of George died Monday, May 19, 2003, at Sioux Valley Hospital, Sioux Falls, S.D.

Services were Thursday at Ebenezer Presbyterian Church, George, with interment in Evergreen Lawn Cemetery.

Mr. Vivian was born Nov. 18, 1951, at Manhattan, N.Y., the son of John and Jane (Starosielec) Vivian. He grew up in Brentwood, Long Island, N.Y., graduating from Brentwood High School in 1969. He worked for the Coca-Cola Co. and Department of Transportation of Suffolk County, N.Y.

In August 1989, he married Carola Oehmsen at Sayville, N.Y. The family moved to George in 1989 when her family's business, Oehmsen Midwest, relocated. He was employed at various jobs.

Survivors include his wife; one son, John of George, and one sister, Christine Vivian of Apache Junction, Ariz.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two infant brothers.
