May 21, 2003Jennie Van Veldhuizen, 84, of Rock Rapids died Wednesday, May 21, 2003, at Rock Rapids Health Centre.
Services were Saturday at Porter Funeral Home, Rock Valley, with interment in Valley View Cemetery.
Jennie Kleyn was born May 6, 1919, in Sioux County, the daughter of John and Aaltje (Kastein) Kleyn.
On Feb. 14, 1940, she married Jasper Van Veldhuizen at Rock Valley. They lived in California two years and Rock Valley 17 years before they began farming in the Rock Rapids area.
Her husband died Jan. 16, 2001. She moved to Four Seasons Assisted Living in Rock Rapids in February 2001 and to Rock Rapids Health Centre on April 18, 2003.
Suvivors include three sons, Arthur A and John C, both of Rock Rapids, and Marlan of San Antonio, Texas; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and one sister, Dena Wiekamp of Rock Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her husband; three brothers, Dick, Ben and Neil, and six sisters, Cornelia Hofland, Elizabeth Fluit, Fredreaka Gerritsen, Lena Kruid, Grace Kleyn and Marie Kleyn.
