Mrs. Hilka Symens, 72, a resident of this community for over fifty four years, passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Bert Koerselman on Tuesday evening at 7 o’clock. Mrs. Symens had been failing for the past year, and was seriously ill for the past ten days.

The Symens ‘family farmed northeast of George for many years. They moved to this community about 54 years ago. Mr. Symens passed away in 1911 and the family continued to farm until 1934, when Mrs. Symens moved to George.

Nine children mourn the death of their beloved mother, they are: Mrs. (H.) Rosenboom of Edna; Mrs. Pete Ackerman, George; Edward, of Sheffield; Mrs. Roy Sudenga, Woodstock, Minn.; Mrs. Fred Thiesse ofLittle Rock; Mrs. Fred Spieker, Willow lake, S. Dak.; Mrs. George Graves, Arther and Mrs. Ben Koerselman, all of George. Also four sisters; Mrs. Hester McKinnley, of Britton, S. Dak.; Mrs. H C. Fry of Des. Moines; Mrs. George Harberts, of Grundy Center; Mrs. H. Roelfs, of Ashton; also one brother, Bert Groote , of Asthon.

Funeral services will be held from the Ben Koerselman home in George at 1 o’clock on Friday afternoon, followed with services at the Ebenezer Presbyterian church. Rev. A. E. Goldhorn, of Ellsworth, Minn.. will officiate at the services, which are being arranged by the Vogeelaar Funeral Service of George. Interment will be made in the Zoar cemetery northeast of George. A complete obituary will be published next week.
