DEGROOT, STUBBE, VERDOORN, EICHMAN

Chistrian DeGroot, son of Christina and Reka DeGroot, was born in Osceola County, near Ashton, Iowa, January 30, 1895.

Later his parents moved to a farm four miles east of George, Iowa, where he grew to manhood. He attended the local school and the church and Sunday school at the Lyon County First Presbyterian Church.

On January 30, 1918 he was united with the Zoar Presbyterian church on confession of Christ as his Saviour. He later moved to George and transferred to the Ebenezer Presbyterian Church.

For a number of years he farmed near George, then moved to town.

He operated a road grader for many years. The last few years he worked at the carpenter trade
His life came to a sudden end in a car accident near Luverne, Minn., He reached the age of 55 years, 6 months, and 27 days.

Mr. DeGroot had a kindly disposition, he was a faithful husband and father. He leaves to mourn his untimely death a large number of relatives and friends who will greatly miss him. He was always faithful and….regular in church attendance, for several years he served as usher.

The immediately family are: His wife, Mre. Lena DeGroot, of George; Three children, Mrs. Gladys (Ted) VerDoorn, Bellflower, Calif.; Harold DeGroot, George; and Evelyn DeGroot, George.

He also leaves his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Chris DeGroot, of Greorge; Six brothers and sisters, Alfred DeGroot, Rock Rapids; Mrs. Bertha (Ben) Stubbe, George; brothers Fred, Henry and John all of George: and Mrs. Bernice (William) Eichman, Sibley.

Seven grandchildren remain to mourn the loss of their grandfather.
