October 23, 1925-2010

APPLE VALLEY, CA— Henrietta Grotluschen, 85, (formerly of Doon) was born October 23, 1925 in Arum, Holland to Henry and Rena Bus. They immigrated to Long Beach, CA when Henrietta was 18 months old. They later moved to the Doon area in northwest Iowa, where she was educated in the Doon Schools.

Henrietta and her children lived in various places in Iowa and California. Her last employment was at Palomar College in San Marcos, CA where she retired in 1983.

She moved back to northwest Iowa and married her high school sweetheart, Wilford (Bill) Grotluscuen in George on August 23, 1984. They were married for 25 years. In October, 2009 Henrietta was relocated to Apple Valley, CA where her children took over her care. She died there on June 29, 2010.

Survivors include her husband Bill, and her five children and families; William VonDer Lieth, Becky Wallace, Bruce VonDer Lieth, Bonita Lucy and Barbara Mitchell; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one sister, Jennie Denekas, and family, Rock Rapids; brothers, John and Sharon and family, Colton SD, Terry and Anita and family, Rock Rapids.

Step-children Lynn and John Grotluschen of George, and Linda Huizenga of Orange City and their families, including six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Grave.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Rena Bus; a daugther, Brenda Cheeseman; grandson, William; and a sister, Ruby (Bus) Conklin.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, August 14, at 2:30 p.m., at the Emanuel Lutheran Church in George, Iowa.
