Feb. 12, 1924 -- July 12, 2010

Janelle Kroon, 86, Fairmont, Minnesota, and formerly of George, Iowa, died Monday morning, July 12, at Lakeview Methodist Health Care Center in Fairmont.

Services were held on Thursday, July 15, at Fairmont Baptist Church. A private family burial will take place at a later date in Black Hills National Cemetery in South Dakota. Arrangements are under the direction of Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont.

Janelle Kroon, daughter of Ed and Caroline (Dreesman) Bartels, was born on February 12, 1924, in George. At the age of 6 she accepted Christ as her savior and was baptized. She graduated from George High School. She was an assistant manager and bookkeeper of a women’s style shop in Sheldon. She also worked at Creegers in Luverne, Minnesota.

She married John H. Kroon on Feb. 10, 1949, in Luverne, Minnesota. They resided in the Luverne, Minnesota, area before moving back to Sheldon in 1951. After moving she went back to work at the style shop. They moved in 1957 to Fairmont, Minnesota, where she worked at Wards and Buttrey’s. She also was an Avon representative in Fairmont, Minnesota. They attended Bethel Evangelcial Free Church where she was active in Women’s Missionary Society and sang in the choir. They most recently attended Fairmont Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, John Kroon of Fairmont, Minnesota; two sons, Roger and Lynn Kroon, and David and Deb Kroon; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother and his wife, Ivan and Francine Bartels; and a sister and her husband, Geneva and Don Peters.
