MEYER, Bena, age 81, passed away on Saturday, April 28, 1951, after a long illness.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday afternoon from the Fred Behrends home southwest of George, Iowa and from St John’s Lutheran church near Boyden, for Mrs. Bema, Meyer 81, who passed away on Saturday of last week after a long illness.

Mrs. Meyer had made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Fred Behrends for some time. Rev. William Striepe officiated at the services. Interment was made in St John cemetery.

OBITUARY
Mrs. Bena Meyer was born on February 10, 1870, in Illinois. Her parents were Mr. and Mrs. Simon Holz. She was baptized soon after her birth. When but a few weeks old, her parents moved to St. Louis, Missouri. She confirmed at the age of 15 in the Kinswick, Missouri, Lutheran church.

On May 8, 1891, the departed was married to Mr. Otto Ludwig. To this union were born 4 children: one son who died early and three daughters: Mrs. Henry Behrends, deceased; Mrs. William Wiebe; and Mrs. Fred Behrends.

Her husband was called from this life in March 1901. She made her living working in various hotels.

On February 25, 1905, she married Mr. John Meyer, who had two daughters by a former marriage: Mrs. Henry Vagts, deceased and Mrs. Anna Meyer. They farmed in this community for many years. After the death of her husband, nineteen years ago, she has made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Fred Behrends.

Three years ago the departed had suffered a slight stroke and again a little over a year ago. Her strength continued to decline, especially during the last months. The Lord finally called her to rest at the age of 81 years, 2 months and 18 days.

The living relatives who mourn her passing are: Mrs. William Wiebe of Canton, Minnesota; Mrs. Fred Behrends of George, Iowa; and Mrs. Anna Meyer of Brookings, South Dakota; two sisters, one her twin sister, Mrs. Rose Friedmann, and Mrs. Louise Smith of Kinswick, Missouri; 22 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren.

Call not back the dear departed,

Anchored safe, where storms are o’er;

On the border land we left her,

Soon to meet and part no more.

When we leave this world of changes,

When we leave this world of care,

We shall find our missing loved one

In our Father’s mansion fair.
