Jake Meyer, age 68, passed away on Monday March 26, 1951.

Funeral services were held for Jake Meyer, a resident of George, Iowa, on Thursday of last week from the Meyer home and from the Hope Reformed church with Rev. M. Hoekman officiating.

Mr. Jake Meyer was born on June 15, 1883 in Grundy County, Iowa and baptized in the Christian Reformed church there the same year. In 1909 the family moved to Sibley, Iowa in Osceola County where Jake lived until his marriage on March 12, 1907, when he with his bride lived on a farm southwest of George. They lived on farms in this area until his retirement in 1943, when they took up residence in the town of George, where they lived until Jake’s death at the age of 67 years, 9 months and 11 days.

On October 15, 1922, Mr. Meyer made confession of his faith in the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and thus became an active member of the Hope Reformed church in George, Iowa. He served faithfully and well as member of the church and in the years 1944 to 1946 he served his Lord and the church as elder. The church shall certainly miss to him a true and loyal follower of the Christ.

There remain to mourn his passing, his faithful wife, three brothers, three sisters, and a host of friends and relatives. Mr. Meyer’s brothers and sisters are: Pete Meyer of Little Rock; George Meyer of Lucan, Minnesota; Charlie Meyer of Vesta, Minnesota; Mrs. Mathew Kruse of Willow Lake, South Dakota; Mrs. Frank Houk of Des Moines, Iowa; and Mrs. John Vuss of Sibley, Iowa.
