Meemke Dirks, age 87, passed away Thursday, March 1, 1951 at the Rock Rapids Hospital.

Funeral services were held at Salem Reformed church in Little Rock, Iowa, Monday afternoon, for Mrs. Ben (Meemke) Dirks, who died Thursday, March 1, 1951, at the Rock Rapids hospital. Burial was made in the Little Rock cemetery.

Casket bearers were: Werdt Krull, Eilt Jager, Harry Heeren, Jake Uhden, Bill Christians and John Hayenga.

Born in Jennlt, Ostfriesland, Germany, on December 1, 1864, Meemke Hartman was united in marriage to Ben Dirks on September 25, 1885. Nine children were born to the couple, eight of whom survive. Mr. Dirks proceeded her in death , in 1932.

In the spring of 1899, the family came to America, settling near Rock Rapids, Iowa. They continued farming until 1925, at which time they retired to Little Rock, Iowa. Mrs. Dirks had resided there until her death, with the exception of the winter months during the last few years.

Surviving Mrs. Dirks are her children: Mrs. Henry (Maggie) Van Briesen of Rock Rapids, Iowa; Frank of Luverne, Iowa; Heiko of Rock Rapids; Dick, George, Bernard and Mrs. William (Mattie) Timmerman of Rock Rapids; Harm of Ash Creek; Mrs. Henry (Hazel) Arends of Walters, Minnesota.

Thirty-eight grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, two sisters and a brother in Germany, also survive.
