The community lost one of its most highly respected citizens in the death of Conrad George, Krahling, Sr., 69, which occurred on Saturday evening of last week, May 5, 1951. Mr. Krahling had been in poor health for the past several months.

The Krahling family have been residents of the town of George since February, 1946 and prior to that time had farmed in Dale Township from the time he was a young man. Mr. Krahling had a host of friends in Lyon county who grieve to learn of his death.

Funeral services with Rev. Stanley Roesler in charge, were held from the Krahling home and from the Lutheran church in George on Tuesday afternoon. Interment was made in the Zion Lutheran church cemetery southeast of George.

Following is the obituary of the deceased as it was read at the services here Tuesday, by Rev. Roesler.

Conrad George Krahling, son of Conrad and Christine Engel Krahling, was born March 28, 1882 in Fremont Township, Benton County, Iowa. He was baptized May 7, 1882, into the Lutheran faith. He was confirmed March 29, 1896, at Zion Immanuel Lutheran church, Dale township, Lyon county, Iowa by Rev. Ludwig Weinrich.

On December 6, 1904, he was married to Ida Emma Rachuy. Seven children were born to this union. They are: Clara, Mrs. Herman Blum, Chester, Iowa; Conrad L., of Ashton, Iowa; Lillian, Mrs. John Van Oort, of Fulda, Minnesota; August W., at home; Aletha, Mrs. Dick Meyer, of Sibley, Iowa. An infant daughter, Helen, preceded him in death and a son, Walter, who died in the service of his country in the last war. Besides his wife and children, he leaves to mourn his passing the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Louise Wendell, of newhall, Iowa; Adam, of George; Henry, of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Christine Rachuy, Brewster, Minnesota; Minnie Guenther, Sioux Falls, South Dakota; William A., of Sheldon, Iowa; and fourteen grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, John, August and George, and one sister, Anna Wendell.

He retired from the farm on February 2, 1946. He farmed in Dale township all of his life.

He passed away May 5, 1951 about 9:00 p.m. at the age of 69 years, 1 month and 7 days.
