Dederick King age 72, section foreman for the Illinois Central Railroad for many years, and a former resident of George, Iowa passed away Wednesday evening of last week, May 30. Funeral services were held at Temple Mortuary in Sheldon on Saturday.

Dederick King (or Koning) passed away Wednesday at 11 o’clock in the Samaritan hospital in Sheldon after a seige illness of heart trouble. He was born on March 31, 1879, at Ditzum, Eniden in Germany. He attained the age of 72 years and 2 months.

At the age of 6 he immigrated with his parents to America, where he lived four years near Miller, South Dakota, and then later moved to George, Iowa, which was his home town. He devoted practically all his life to railroading for the I.C. Railroad Company being foreman for 47 years. Over 40 years he resided in Matlock, Iowa. The past two years he retired and looked after farm interests.

He is survived by his wife, one aged sister, Mary Meester of George, Iowa; two aged brothers, Wilko of South Prairie, Washington, and William of Tacoma, Washington, besides many other relatives.
