Walter Tiedeman, well known in this community, who farmed near Hull, Iowa, was killed in a haying accident on his farm Monday evening, July 9, 1951

Tiedeman was assisting in making hay at his farm and had gone up into the barn and in an attempt to shove the hay carrier back to catch at the end of the track; he slid down the rope and landed onto the handle of a pitchfork which had been thrown down from the mow. The handle of the fork struck him between the legs and was forced into his abdomen, causing severe internal injuries.

The injured man was taken to the Hull hospital almost immediately and everything humanly possible was done for him. He passed away at 10 o’clock that evening.

Funeral services will be held from the Tiedeman home and from St. Paul Lutheran church north of Hull on Friday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. respectfully. Walter Tiedeman is survived by his wife and many other relatives and friends.
