Funeral services were held on Saturday afternoon from Lyon County First Baptist Church northeast of George for Peter Janssen, former George, Iowa businessman who died suddenly of a heart attack at his farm near Luverne, Minnesota on Wednesday, July 4, 1951. Rev. John Reimer, local pastor, officiated at the services.

Mr. Janssen was well known in this community having served as a manager of the Farmers Creamery here for a number of years and also as a farmer of this community.

Peter Janssen was born March 12, 1901, near George; his parents were Mr. and Mrs. John Janssen. He spent his childhood and youth in this community and attended the local schools and worshipped in the First Baptist church.

On August 27, 1926, he and Miss Florence Tolsma were married. To this union was born one daughter, Mrs. Merle (Aljean) Graves. He is survived by his wife, his daughter, and his father, Mr. John Janssen, and three sisters: Mrs. Elizabeth Angelkes, Mrs. Herman (Tillie) Duin, and Mrs. A.H. (Etta) Schol all of George, Iowa; also three brothers: George and Simon of Rushmore, Minnesota and Detmer of George, Iowa.

Mr. Janssen had been employed in various creameries of the state, serving at Fenton, Popjoy, Sibley, and George, Iowa. For the last 9 years he farmed north of George and had recently moved to Luverne, Minnesota, where he farmed a small place, due to ill health.
