Warner Geerdes, 52, George farmer, lost his life in a tractor accident which occurred on the road 1 mile east of George, at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon.

Mr. Geerdes, who farmed 2 miles southeast of George, had taken his tractor and trailer to town early in the afternoon and was returning home with a load of ground feed. He was on the creamery road east of George and turned south and just after crossing the bridge, the tractor in some manner ran off the grade and rolled into the deep ditch on the right side of the road.

Ed Heyer, a farmer living near, drove by shortly after the accident and found Mr. Geerdes pinned under the tractor. He drove to the Kanneigieter farm nearby and called medical aid and an ambulance. Mr. Geerdes passed away enroute to the Sibley hospital of internal injuries received in the accident.

Besides his wife who lives to mourn his untimely death, two sons: Arlan and Bobbie, and one daughter, Kathleen; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Chris B Geerdes; also three brothers: Chris Jr., Ben C. and George J. and four sisters: Mrs. Irwin (Minnie) Willemssen, Mrs. Alvin (Tillie) Nicks, Mrs. Caroline Anderson, and Mrs. Marie Wiekamp.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday afternoon from the Geerdes home and from the Lyon County First Presbyterian church with Rev. M.H. Brower officiating. Funeral arrangements are being made by Vogelaar Funeral Service of George, Iowa.
