Funeral services for John De Haan of Rock Rapids, formerly of George, in Rock Rapids, were held at the home on Monday afternoon, Rev. E.H. Mueller officiated. Interment was in Riverview cemetery. He was 80 years old

Mr. De Haan was born in Germany and later came to this country. On August 18, 1887, he was united in marriage to Miss Hilka Garrels and immediately after their marriage they came to Lyon County, settling on a farm southeast of George, Iowa. In 1899 they moved to their own farm in Rock Rapids, Iowa and in 1913 they retired from the farm and moved to George, Iowa. They lived here until 1926 when they returned to Rock Rapids. Mr. De Haan passed away at his home there Friday. He had been in ill health for years.

He is survived by five daughters, namely, Mrs. Harm Meester (Ella), Mrs. Harry Cone (Agnes), Mrs. Charles Busch (Helen), all of Rock Rapids, Iowa; Mrs. Charles Harm (Anna) of George, Iowa; Mrs. Elmer Williams (Elizabeth) of Rock Rapids, Iowa; also nine grandchildren and other relatives. Mrs. Hilka De Haan preceded him in death on July 5, 1937, and one son, John Jr., died in 1919.

Mrs. Charles Eberline Sr., Mrs. U.A. Uden, Mrs. Charles Marten, Mrs. Phillip Brunsma and daughter Verona; and Mrs. Dick Swalve of George, Iowa were among those to attend the services.
