Viola Nystrom, 90, of Cheyenne, Wyo., died Monday, Nov. 26, 2001, at United Medical Center.

Services were Friday at Roste Funeral Home, Rock Rapids, with interment in Riverview Cemetery.

Viola Nordmann was born March 19, 1911, in Remsen, the daughter of Otto and Siephie Nordmann. She graduated from Ellsworth, Minn., high school. She attended the University of Dubuque two years and completed her college work at Augustana College, Sioux Falls, S.D. She taught in rural Lyon County schools 10 years, then served as administrative assistant to the Lyon County Superintendent of Schools almost 19 years.

On Dec. 2, 1934, she married Merle Nystrom in Rock Rapids.

Survivors include one son, Lynn of Cheyenne; two grandsons; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Harold of Gowrie, and one sister, Harriet Stansberry of Minneapolis, Minn.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one brother, Edwin.
