Mary Cossman, 67, of Simi Valley, Calif., died Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2001. Graveside services were Oct. 1 in Simi Valley.

Mary Rydell was born Feb. 11, 1934, in Rock Rapids, the daughter of Karl and Margaret Rydell. She grew up and attended school in Rock Rapids.

On Dec. 18, 1950, she married Henry "Cussy" Cossman in Rock Rapids. They farmed near Brookings, S.D., several years. They then moved to Rock Rapids where they managed the VFW Canteen. In 1964, they moved to California.

Survivors include five children, Dave, Jerry, Debbie and Tim, all of Simi Valley, and Chuck of Connecticut; 17 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Bill of Rock Rapids and Pat of Storm Lake; two sisters, Thelma Johnson of Bellingham, Wash., and June Rydell of Rock Rapids, and two sisters-in-law, Aileen Rydell of Flandreau, S.D., and Phyllis Rydell of Rock Rapids.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Ronie and Bob.
